Morita Chile

Morita chiles are a type of dried richly flavored chipotle pepper. They are made from ripe Jalapeños that have turned red and are wood smoked for less time than the common tan Meco chipotle variety. The Morita is distinguished by its dark red color and has a slightly fruity, medium hot, smoky complex profile. Like a fine wine their tasting notes have been described variously as having hints of light smoke, chocolate, tobacco, plum, fig cherry, blackberry and raspberry.
